Washington, DC, Aug. 3, 2016 –  With examples from his most recent book, The Wright Brothers, Pulitzer Prize winning author David McCullough will focus on “Lessons in Leadership” in a keynote address during the Opening General Session of the 2016 National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Held in Orlando, FL, the event runs through Nov. 3.

“As everyone knows, the Wright Brothers were visionaries, and like any visionaries, they confronted many challenges in their work to achieve their dream of powered flight,” noted NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “One true measure of their leadership is how they responded to those challenges, and we are excited to hear David McCullough’s perspectives on how the brothers worked together, each with his particular strengths, to overcome challenges and make history.”

A gifted speaker as well as author, McCullough has addressed audiences across the nation and around the world, and he is one of the few private citizens who have spoken before a joint session of Congress. In addressing “Lessons in Leadership,” he has often drawn examples from his other works of literary nonfiction, including the building of the Brooklyn Bridge (The Great Bridge) and Panama Canal (The Path Between the Seas), the consequences of The Johnstown Flood, the founding of the United States of America (John Adams and 1776), and its transition from World War II (Truman).

“As an historian,” reads a citation from Yale, McCullough’s alma mater, “he paints with words, giving us pictures of the American people that live, breathe, and above all, confront the fundamental issues of courage, achievement, and moral character.”

McCullough’s well-researched words have earned him two Pulitzer Prize awards, two National Book Awards and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award. His most recent work, The Wright Brothers, is a No. 1 New York Times bestseller. McCullough will be one of several Opening General Session speakers at NBAA-BACE on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
