August 24, 2012

Schedulers and dispatchers (S&D) take note: There’s about a month left to apply for NBAA’s annual scholarships and training scholarships. For 2013, monetary awards may include up to $10,000 per applicant, and 15 initial and recurrent training courses are also available.

The scholarship and training opportunities are awarded each year by NBAA’s Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee and supported by the generosity of industry donors. To date, the committee has awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships, in addition to many training awards annually.

“We’re pleased to have the opportunity to offer financial and training scholarships to the scheduler and dispatcher community through the generous support of our donor organizations,” said Lori Knoper, chairperson of the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship Subcommittee. “Educational growth and continuous training are critical to advancement and development of individuals in flight operations.”

Current, as well as aspiring, schedulers and dispatchers are encouraged to apply, as well as flight attendants and individuals in other relevant positions. The S&D Scholarship Committee will select the recipients, who will be notified by Nov. 30. Award winners will be announced at the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatcher Conference, set for Jan. 22 to 25, in San Antonio, TX.

The Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship Fund is supported by Signature Flight Support, Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc., AC-U-KWIK, Jet Aviation, Savoya and Rockwell Collins Flight Information Systems.

The training scholarships are supported by Airline Ground Schools, Beyond and Above Corporate Flight Attendant Training, CornerStone Strategies LLC, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Fireside Partners, FlightSafety International, Frontier/Medex, Jeppesen, MedAire, NBAA Air Traffic Services and Universal Weather & Aviation.
