For current or aspiring schedulers and dispatchers interested in career advancement, an NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Scholarship can help improve skills, make invaluable connections and open doors to new opportunities.

NBAA’s Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee offers two different scholarships: The S&D Monetary Scholarship, which provides up to $10,000 for continuing education or training, and the S&D Training Scholarship, which provides professional education courses donated by a variety of top aviation training institutions.

The deadline to submit applications for this year’s scholarships is Oct. 7.

“[An S&D Scholarship] is a great way to further your career and meet more people within the business aviation industry,” said 2013 Training Scholarship recipient Erica Hogetvedt. A charter flight coordinator at Global Aviation, Hogetvedt used her scholarship to hone her professional skills through a training course with Fireside Partners.

For those who recently started an aviation career, a scholarship can change their future. Jonathan Hanna, airside safety supervisor at Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) in Nassau, Bahamas, used his 2014 Monetary Scholarship to complete coursework and obtain his FAA Dispatcher’s License.

“The license has definitely given me a greater operational insight to my present job, allowing for a greater understanding of some of the airlines’ operations and the day-to-day challenges they face,” he said.

Scholarship benefits aren’t limited to those in the beginning of their career. Michelle Lussier, an 18-year veteran of CVS Health’s aviation department, used her Training Scholarship to take a FlightSafety Schedulers and Dispatchers course in 2013, a decision she credits with improving her knowledge of flight department processes.

Anthony DiBiase is currently using his scholarship to complete a bachelor’s degree in aviation business administration at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He recommended that anyone seeking to advance their scheduling or dispatching career submit an application.

“Open the door to an aviation opportunity that will change your life forever,” he said.
