Business aviation is a fast-growing segment of India’s aviation industry, with projections suggesting that the country will become the world’s third-largest aviation market by 2020. This growth not only promises to provide business aircraft operators with easier access to India, but also presents U.S. companies with numerous opportunities to provide technology and services to support the expansion.
That’s why Doug Carr, NBAA’s vice president of regulatory and international affairs, is attending the annual U.S.-India Aviation Summit in Bangalore, India, and discussing the importance of business aviation and the potential for additional growth of the sector in India and throughout South Asia.
The summit, which takes place Nov. 3 to 5, is being conducted by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, in partnership with the government of India and the U.S.-India Aviation Cooperation Program. It is supported by the American Association of Airport Executives.
“This conference enables open dialogue to share the needs of the business aviation industry,” said Carr. “It is also an opportunity to demonstrate the role of business aviation as an important segment of India’s aviation industry.
“Over the past several years, thanks to the leadership of India’s Business Aircraft Operators Association, business aircraft operators in India have realized many improvements relating to permits, processing and operations,” continued Carr. “But like in many other parts of the globe, business aviation in India competes for aviation resources. The summit presents a great opportunity to discuss business aviation issues at the highest levels.”
The summit’s education sessions focus on airport infrastructure development; the expanding general aviation and helicopter markets, airspace utilization and more. Summit attendees also toured one of three Indian aerospace facilities, including the Bengaluru International Airport, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Indian Space Research Organization.
