Upcoming airspace changes will be discussed at the Charlotte (NC) Metroplex team’s Industry Day event, set for Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to noon at the aviation director’s office at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).

After minor changes to the airspace in June, a phased implementation will continue over the next 18 months. The first major changes will be to the Northwest SIDS (5) and STARS (4) on Aug. 20. These will initially be NOTAM’d as “ATC Assigned Only” through Oct. 15 in order to allow controllers and pilots to acclimate to the new procedures.

The Charlotte Metroplex will implement 39 new PBN/RNAV procedures between August 2015 and January 2017, according to the FAA. These new Metroplex projects will allow more efficient use of airspace with improved arrival and departure flows.

Delays are possible at CLT, as they will reduce the airport acceptance rates for a limited time.

For security reasons, the Charlotte Metroplex team asks that those interested in Industry Day RSVP no later than noon on Aug. 20 to Bruno Schnedl at rschnedl@cssiinc.com. Those unable to participate in person may also request details on the Skype meeting coverage.
