Runway Closures Associated with SFO Runway Construction Begin April 7

A major runway overlay and construction project of Runway 28L/10R at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will result in several weekend runway and taxiway closures over the next three months. Air traffic management initiatives can be expected during the runway closures. The project is scheduled to last through July 2017, with multiple weekend closures expected in addition to nightly week-day closures. Learn more.

San Francisco Airport Taxiway Construction Planned For Nov. 7 and 8

The taxiway "Q" and "B" intersection at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will be closed for maintenance Nov. 7 and 8. This closure will result in significant challenges in surface movement at the airport. In addition to the ground delays expected on the surface, the FAA plans to implement a ground delay program for arrivals to reduce the surface congestion. The project is weather dependent with alternate dates of Nov. 14 and 15. Learn more.

SFO Construction Closes Runway at Night
April 6, 2009
Runway 28R/10L at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will be closed every night from 10:30 p.m. to 8:45 a.m. for runway repaving. Additionally, there will be four weekend-long closures beginning Friday, April 17, from 10:30 p.m. through 8:45 a.m. Monday. Traffic management initiatives, including ground delay programs, ground stops and miles in trail are possible during the construction. If wet weather is expected, closures may be cancelled.
