With the January 2020 deadline for ADS-B installation quickly approaching, the high demand for installations has led some companies to create innovative programs to make turn times shorter and get planes back in the air as quickly as possible. SoCal Jets is just one of them. “Definitely more companies will have to do this in order to complete this by 2020,” said Debi Carpenter, executive director of the Southern California Aviation Association. She and others describe the challenges of achieving ADS-B compliance in this week’s NBAA Flight Plan podcast.


NBAA Recommends Immunization Review Before International Travel
With the World Health Organization recently updating its recommendations for polio vaccines, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued guidance for travelers bound for eight destinations, including Kenya, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea. Regardless of the international destination, NBAA recommends that all operators and their passengers review their immunization records before departure. Review the immunization guidance.

Weather information researchers, developers and providers are eager to learn from pilots, dispatchers and others who need access to the most up-to-date weather technology to operate, at the 2018 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE). “Those who rely on weather information should not miss this opportunity to help shape future tools and define the scope of these important topics,” said John Kosak, weather program manager for NBAA Air Traffic Services. NBAA Closes Out 2018 Regional Forums With Successful Show in San Jose
Drawing 1,800 attendees to San Jose, CA, on Sept. 6, the final NBAA regional forum of 2018 provided a chance for NBAA to thank its members and other industry stakeholders for their successful efforts in mobilizing to fight back ATC privatization proposals, and also to discuss challenges ahead – such as attracting young professionals to business aviation.
