FAA Deadline Is Looming for Part 125 Airplane Operations
Operators of airplanes configured for 6,000 pounds or more of payload capacity and 20 or more passenger seats must comply with all of Part 125 or have obtained authority from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under Part 125.3 for specific deviations. The FAA will grant letters of deviation authority (LODAs) to operators, allowing them to transport personnel, property and guests. The long-established March 31 deadline for operators to receive the necessary authorization is rapidly approaching, and NBAA urges operators to act quickly and work with their flight standards district office (FSDO) to obtain this authority, given the requirements that must be addressed, including: manual, airplane, operational, special airworthiness, instrument and equipment, training, testing and maintenance. For more information, contact NBAA's Operations Service Group at or visit:

NOTAM Realignment Proceeds on Jan. 28
The FAA has signed Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) Order 7930.2, enabling the first phase of NOTAM realignment to proceed. This notice goes into effect January 28, at which time civil local NOTAMs will be classified as D NOTAMs, and will be stored, numbered and distributed throughout the U.S. NOTAM system. These NOTAMs will be input with keywords at the beginning of each to aid in parsing and classifying the data. For more information, including examples of keywords and NOTAMs, visit:

Where Can I Find FAA Inspector Handbook Guidance?
Operators seeking guidance on FAA inspections can refer to the inspector handbooks, located in the Flight Standards Information Management System (FSIMS). As of September 13, 2007, the Airworthiness Inspector's Handbook (FAA Order 8300.10), Air Carrier Operations Inspector's Handbook (FAA Order 8400.10) and General Aviation Operations Inspector's Handbook (FAA Order 8700.1) all were cancelled, and the information was consolidated into FAA Order 8900.1.
