Washington, DC, Nov. 8, 2013 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announced today that Lisa Piccione, who has served as senior vice president, government affairs for NBAA during an eventful nine years in business aviation, has informed the association she will be stepping down at the end of the year to move to Brussels with her spouse, who has accepted an overseas position.
NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen said: “Since coming to NBAA, Lisa has been extremely effective at both raising the profile of business aviation among policymakers and opinion leaders, and helping them understand the tremendous benefits of our industry provides to companies, communities and our country.”
Bolen added, “NBAA is a better organization, and business aviation is a better industry, because of the leadership Lisa has provided during some very challenging times. She is an extraordinary person and professional, and everyone who has worked with her during her tenure at NBAA understands that. She will be greatly missed.”
In her leadership role at NBAA, Piccione has overseen outreach to the U.S. Congress, two White House Administrations and aviation community stakeholders at the national and state levels.
She has spearheaded the actions taken by NBAA on some of the most pressing policy issues affecting business aviation in recent years, including: opposition to user fees for general aviation; successfully battling to turn back an onerous security proposal from the Transportation Security Administration; preventing business aviation from being singled out for changes in aircraft depreciation schedules; and restoration of NBAA Members’ ability to opt out from having their flights tracked and broadcast in real time.
Piccione was recruited to NBAA in 2004 as a highly experienced and well-respected government affairs professional, having previously served in senior positions involving aviation policy on Capitol Hill and in senior government relations posts for Airports Council International-North America and for Delta Air Lines.
