Illustrious Speakers to Be Featured at NBAA's 2011 Leadership Conference
Washington, DC, December 9, 2010 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is pleased to announce that United States Air Force Col. Mark Tillman (Ret.), who commanded Air Force One during 9/11, will be among the distinguished speakers at NBAA's 19th Annual Leadership Conference, February 23 to 24, 2011, in San Diego, CA.
Col. Tillman will be joined by the legendary aerobatic pilot Sean D. Tucker and world-class mountaineer and businessman Chris Warner, who scaled K2 in the Himalayas, in leading special sessions during the special two-day event for business aviation leaders.
"We are pleased to have these preeminent individuals in their fields joining us for our 2011 Leadership Conference," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "These outstanding aviators, explorers and entrepreneurs will no doubt have much to share with Attendees about the discipline and hard work that exemplify leadership."
Col. Tillman was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 2004, and was the first U.S. military line officer to be promoted to Brigadier General by the President of the United States. He will share his first-hand account of serving as Air Force One Commander on Sept. 11, 2001, and relate his eventful military career to his Zero Fail philosophy and its application in business.
Tucker is a legend in the aviation world for his one-of-a-kind aerial acrobatics and is a leader in the airshow business and the wider aviation industry. He has received many of the industry's highest honors, including being named a recipient of the Crystal Eagle Award, an inductee at the 2001 USAF Gathering of Eagles, and named as one of the Living Legends of Flight. He has also been enshrined into the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
He also founded the Tutima Academy of Aviation Safety, devoted to flight training and safety in aerobatics. Tucker will speak on what can be achieved when leaders harness the powerful combination of expertise, endurance and enthusiasm.
Warner is founder and director of Earth Treks, Inc, which operates three centers specializing in rock and ice climbing instruction, and international mountaineering expeditions. He is an American Mountain Guides Association certified Alpine Guide, who has been teaching and leading expeditions to the world's tallest peaks since 1983.
Warner will speak on lessons in "high altitude leadership." He contributed to Upward Bound, a book by entrepreneurs and climbers exploring the lessons learned in climbing that can be applied to business leadership.
These exemplary leaders will join with renowned leadership expert and one of the top 25 best-selling authors of all time, Dr. Ken Blanchard, in forming an all-star lineup of speakers at the Leadership Conference. Blanchard is author of the best-selling, The One Minute Manager, coauthored with Spencer Johnson, and a sought-after speaker and business consultant on management and leadership of organizations.
"Together and individually, this group of speakers and the sessions they will lead embody the Leadership Conference theme, 'Engaging Leadership,'" Bolen observed.
NBAA's 2011 Leadership Conference features thought-provoking sessions focused on creative thinking, innovation and new models of collaboration, and is designed to provide attendees the tools needed in today's dynamic workplace. To learn more, visit www.nbaa.org/leadership.
