NBAA: Babbitt 'Excellent Choice' for FAA Administrator
NBAA Statement on Nomination of Randy Babbitt as FAA Administrator
Washington, DC, March 27, 2009 – National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) President and CEO Ed Bolen today issued the following statement upon the announcement that the White House has nominated Randolph "Randy" Babbitt as the next administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
"Randy is an excellent choice for FAA administrator. He's a pilot, with a thorough understanding of how our nation's aviation system works. He also has a businessperson's expertise, having started a successful aviation consulting company. He brought his business skills to his service on the FAA's Management Advisory Council, which was focused on applying good business practices at the FAA. He also has a strong safety background, including service on an Independent Review Team that advised the FAA on its safety programs. Clearly, Randy will be able to hit the ground running at a critical point in the evolution of the nation's air transportation system."
Babbitt's nomination is subject to confirmation by the U.S. Senate.
