GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, May 22, 2008 – The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) concluded another record-shattering European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) with an eighth consecutive year of growth that was hailed as the best event yet in recognizing the contribution of business aviation to regional economies.
A total of 13,692 Attendees were on hand for this year's event, a 21.5 percent increase over last year's total attendance of 11,267. EBACE2008 surpassed other records, as more than 440 Exhibitors, an all-time high, displayed the latest products and services across a total of 1,958 booth spaces at Geneva PALEXPO, a 38 percent increase over the previous year. The Static Display of Aircraft on Geneva International Airport also saw the highest-ever total of 60 state-of-the-art business aircraft and three aircraft mock-ups.
The three-day business aviation event featured Information Sessions designed to promote safety and operational excellence. One of many highlights included the presentation of the EBACE2008 European Business Aviation Award to Mark Booth, chairman and CEO of NetJets Europe, for his outstanding contributions to European business aviation.
Also announced this week were the recipients of the inaugural European Safety of Flight Awards, which honor European business aviation operators for their demonstrated record of safe flying. A total of six businesses were recognized as part of the 2nd Annual Safety Standdown Europe, an event co-hosted by NBAA, EBAA and Bombardier in conjunction with EBACE2008.
"EBACE once again has exceeded our highest expectations," said EBAA CEO Eric Mandemaker. "This year continues the trend of positive feedback and support from both Exhibitors and Attendees who view this is an exceptional event for the business aviation community."
NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen agreed, and added: "EBACE continues to serve as the premier forum for the European business aviation community, and an opportunity to promote its potential for growth and prosperity in Europe and elsewhere. The fact that EBACE keeps growing every year is a good sign that business aviation is delivering value and contributing to business and economic development worldwide. We look forward to participating in EBACE again in 2009."
The next EBACE event is scheduled for May 12 to 14, 2009, at Geneva PALEXPO and Geneva International Airport. EBAA and NBAA have secured dates for EBACE through 2012.
