NBAA 55th Annual Meeting & Convention Moves to Orlando
Contact: Cassandra Bosco
Washington, DC, February 22, 2001 - The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has decided to move the Association’s 2002 Annual Meeting & Convention from Anaheim to Orlando due to the steady growth of this event over the past several years. Although the Anaheim Convention Center has expanded and is an excellent facility, NBAA exhibit booths sales have outpaced the center’s growth. In just the past two years, the square footage occupied by NBAA Exhibitors has increased by a remarkable 20 percent, and things don’t seem to be slowing down with early bookings for 2001.
"Our largest Member base is Southern California, so we were looking forward to hosting the NBAA Convention in Anaheim," NBAA President Jack Olcott said. "However, if we stayed in Anaheim for 2002, we’d be required to place exhibits on two levels and in meeting rooms, which is not ideal. We also would be forced to turn away a fair number of Exhibitors. Orlando provides NBAA with 1,100,000 square feet of contiguous space, which works best for both Exhibitors and Delegates."
The 2002 dates for the NBAA 55th Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando are Tuesday, September 10; Wednesday, September 11; and Thursday, September 12. "We were fortunate that the Orlando Convention Center was available to accommodate a Convention of NBAA’s size," noted NBAA Vice President, Conventions & Seminars Kathleen Blouin. "We require seven days to move the NBAA Show into a Convention Center, three days for the event and three days to move out."
Future NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention dates and sites are as follows:
- 2001 – September 18, 19, 20 – New Orleans
- 2002 – September 10, 11, 12 – Orlando
- 2003 – October 7, 8, 9 – Orlando
- 2004 – October 12, 13, 14 – Las Vegas
- 2005 – November 15, 16, 17 – New Orleans
- 2006 – October 17, 18, 19 – Orlando
- 2007 – October 2, 3, 4 – Orlando
- 2008 – October 14, 15, 16 – New Orleans
NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 6,400 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world's largest display of civil aviation products and services.
