NBAA’s On-Demand Multimedia Courses Give Members Flexibility
Through NBAA’s On-Demand Education Program, distance-learning technologies, such as an Internet-based streaming video on-demand service, video CD-ROM or audio feeds through podcasts, make selected conference sessions and informational resources available on the Association’s web site. Some offerings are provided to Members at no cost; those available for a fee usually come with discounts available for Members or those who attended an event where an On-Demand presentation was originally given.
“So many of our Members are traditional one- or two-airplane flight departments that simply do not have enough resources to send a representative to all of the events that NBAA offers,” says Jo Damato, NBAA director, operations & educational development.
“In addition, event Attendees frequently comment that there are often too many attractive sessions offered concurrently at an individual event. They lament the fact that they can’t be in two or three sessions at once. On-Demand Education is the answer to both of those problems.”
Another benefit of the program is that conference video recordings enable Attendees to continue the conference experience all year long. At the end of this year’s S&D Conference, Damato encouraged Attendees to work with their aviation department managers to develop monthly staff meetings where a different session – operationally relevant to a majority of the operations staff – could be featured. This internally interactive suggestion is just one way that NBAA’s On-Demand Education program can benefit Members.
Latest Offerings Focus on Safety
The latest On-Demand Education offerings include not only featured NBAA event sessions, but also additional resources that are operational in nature and valuable to Members. In March, NBAA produced a free podcast recording that explains the bonus depreciation provisions of the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. The Association also made a three-part Aircraft Towing Best Practices video and a Safety Management System Implementation video available at no cost through its distance-learning partner, Impact Media Solutions.
“ Many of our Members are traditional one- or two-airplane flight departments that simply do not have enough resources to send a representative to all of the events that NBAA offers ”
While NBAA works to expand the On-Demand Education initiative, it also looks forward to building a comprehensive archive that will house informational resources, including sessions that remain relevant long after the live event has ended. With only a computer, headphones and an Internet connection, Members will be able to virtually attend event selections at their convenience – anytime, anywhere
