NBAA2007 Celebrates 60th Year as Business Aviation's Trusted Partner
NBAA continues its tradition of service to Members at its 60th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2007) taking place this year in Atlanta, GA from September 25 to 27. NBAA's annual event, noted as the world's largest civil aviation trade show, is expected to draw thousands of Attendees from around the world and feature more than 1,000 Exhibitors and over 100 Information Sessions. The Convention is now ranked as a Top 10 U.S. trade show, according to Tradeshow Week 200 magazine. This year's Convention marks NBAA's 60th anniversary and celebrates its long-standing partnership with Members and its commitment to the business aviation community since its inception in 1947.
Celebrating Aviation History
NBAA2007 will kick off with an honorary flight on September 22, from New York, the site of NBAA's first meeting in 1947, to Atlanta, the site of this year's Convention.
The flight, piloted by aviators representing business aviation's storied past, its modernized present and its visionary future, will pay tribute to both NBAA's 60th anniversary and Georgia's 100th anniversary of powered flight.
Along with the commemorative flight, NBAA will help Georgia celebrate its 100th anniversary of powered flight by granting free admission to college students and members of the local business aviation community on the third day of the Convention, September 27, in honor of Georgia Aviation Day.
Additionally, a replica of the monoplane built and flown by Ben Epps in 1907 – an aircraft often recognized as a launching point for Georgia's diverse and economically significant aerospace industry – will be on display from September 25 to 27 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Marking Member Milestones
During the Convention, NBAA will recognize not only its own anniversary and the Georgia centennial of flight but also the milestones of several Member Companies.
Gulfstream will observe the 40th anniversary of its first flight in Georgia, Kansas-based Hawker Beechcraft will mark 75 years and Cessna will celebrate its 80th year as the world's largest manufacturer of general aviation airplanes.
In support of NBAA Charities, a fund established to provide support to worthy causes in the business aviation community, NBAA2007 activities will include the 11th Annual Chairman's Charity Classic and the 3rd Annual Benefit Auctions.
Since the Classic's founding in 1997, nearly $350,000 has been raised for various charities. Hosted by NBAA Chairman Ken Emerick, this year's golf tournament will be held on September 23 at Stone Mountain Golf Club in Stone Mountain, GA.
The 3rd Annual Benefit Auctions will feature both Silent and Live Auctions. Silent Auction items will be on display at the Georgia World Congress Center from September 24 to 26, when Exhibitors and Attendees may view and bid on merchandise. Successful bidders will be awarded prizes on September 27.
On September 26, the NBAA Benefit Gala will feature the Live Auction, where auctioneer Dick Friel will lead a lively round of bidding.
NBAA also is lending community support by partnering with its Atlanta Local Committee, The Home Depot and nonprofit organization KaBOOM! to construct an aviation-themed playground near Atlanta's Fulton County Airport (FTY).
Construction is set to begin on September 23, and approximately 400 NBAA volunteers are expected, including local members of the Georgia Business Aviation Association and residents living in close proximity to FTY. NBAA is calling on others planning to attend NBAA2007 to volunteer for the construction.
