Women in Corporate Aviation Celebrates 25th Anniversary at NBAA-BACE

Oct. 4, 2018

Women in Corporate Aviation (WCA) plans to celebrate its 25th anniversary at the organization’s annual luncheon, which will be held on Oct. 17 during the 2018 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE).

Since 1993, WCA has worked to encourage the development of future business aviation leaders. The organization has provided more than 100 scholarships through the years, and in 2015, WCA began a mentorship program, pairing industry newcomers with seasoned veterans.

“WCA is a strong advocate for women and individuals in any stage of their careers,” said the organization’s Membership Coordinator Tracie Carwile. “The scholarship and mentoring programs we offer are vital to ensuring diverse peoples stay in the industry, especially when road blocks arise.” Hear more from Carwile:

WCA directors and members also promote careers in business aviation at numerous industry and educational events each year.

“NBAA applauds Women in Corporate Aviation, and the dedicated professionals who founded and continue to support the organization, for 25 years of promoting diversity in business aviation,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.

“NBAA and Women in Corporate Aviation both recognize the importance of developing the business aviation workforce,” Bolen continued. “Our organizations share a common mission to introduce the next generation of aviation professionals to the exciting opportunities available in business aviation, and to create a network of mentors within our industry. We are honored to be a part of Women in Corporate Aviation’s 25th anniversary celebration, and we look forward to partnering with WCA for many years to come.”

The luncheon will not only celebrate WCA’s anniversary, but also will include presentations on how scholarships for instruction and training, along with other resources, support career advancement and professional development of current and future aviation professionals.

Luncheon attendees are encouraged to attend the NBAA-BACE session titled “Aviation Leadership for Women,” which starts at 1 p.m., immediately following the luncheon. This session will be an interactive examination of attitudes regarding women in aviation, a discussion of how to increase the number of women aviation leaders and an exploration of the skills, attitudes and networks that can help business aviation develop and advance women leaders.
