NBAA will be holding its popular Careers in Business Aviation Day on Thursday, Oct. 18 during the third day of NBAA-BACE, with Anthony Oshinuga, a world-class aerobatic and air race pilot, serving as the keynote speaker. “Inspiring the business aviation industry’s next generation of professionals and leaders is a key NBAA priority,” said Peter Korns, NBAA’s manager, tax, operations and workforce engagement. NBAA’s YoPro Program to Celebrate Five Years at NBAA-BACE

NBAA’s Young Professionals in Business Aviation (YoPro) program has grown from a single networking reception held at the 2014 convention into a multi-faceted industry workforce development initiative. First-Ever Small Operator Symposium to Debut at NBAA-BACE

The inaugural Small Operator Symposium will debut on Oct. 15, prior to the opening of the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), to specifically address issues facing operators with two airplanes or less. “We welcome any operator who considers themselves to be a small operator to attend this new symposium,” said NBAA Manager of Operations Brian Koester. “About 80 percent of our operating members are small flight departments, so we are excited to provide this critical information to such a wide segment of the NBAA operating membership.” Learn more about the symposium

NBAA Announces Agendas for Valuable Safety Events to be Held at NBAA-BACE

Two significant safety events will be held in conjunction with NBAA-BACE – the Single-Pilot Safety Standdown on Oct. 15, and the National Safety Forum on Oct. 18. At the Single-Pilot Safety Standdown, operators will explore practical tips to enhance safety and mitigate risk. Following the theme of “Safety Begins with You,” the National Safety Forum will focus on the basics of maintaining skills, examine the physiology and psychology that affects performance and explore the relationship of leadership and professionalism in aviation safety. CAN’s Fund an Angel Reception and Auction Always a Highlight of NBAA-BACE

A few days before Christmas, 1981, Leonard Greene flew the first flight for the newly created Corporate Angel Network (CAN). Greene flew a young man with bone cancer from his treatment in New York to his home in Michigan on Safe Flight Instrument Corporations’ King Air, creating a comfortable environment for the post-surgery patient. Greene had teamed up with friends Pat Blum and Jay Weinberg to officially form CAN, the organization that has now flown more than 56,000 cancer patient flights to date. To support this mission, NBAA is again collaborating with CAN to present the Fund an Angel Reception with live auction at the Hilton Orlando on Wednesday, Oct. 17 during NBAA-BACE.
