Connecting your aircraft to the myriad of databases, internet features, custom services, data communications and maintenance applications has rapidly become a major issue for business aircraft operators.

Flight Deck Evolution and Connectivity Session Featured at NBAA2015

Anyone interested in this topic should attend an education session at NBAA's Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2015), which will address these and related issues at a panel session featuring avionics manufacturer personnel.

The session will examine:

  • The role connectivity plays on the fight deck and within the aircraft in both the near term and long term
  • How to balance the rate and cost of available changes
  • Security issues that must be addressed during this connectivity evolution
  • What opportunities will there be to add value on the fight deck with this technology in the coming years

Panelists include:

  • Scott Reagan, director OEMs, Jeppesen (moderator)
  • John Uczekaj, president and CEO, Aspen Avionics
  • Dan Schwinn, president and CEO, Avidyne Corp
  • Didier Papadopoulos, senior director of systems and programs, Garmin
  • Jeff Merdich, vice president of cockpit systems, marketing and product management, Honeywell
  • Joel Otto, staff vice president, strategy and business development, Rockwell Collins
  • Paul DeHerrera, CEO, Universal Avionics

"It’s a rare opportunity to have a gathering of six major avionics OEMs together on one stage and to hear their perspective on the future of flight deck connectivity," said Rhonda Larance, Jeppesen’s business integration and strategic initiatives analyst. "The rate of technology change has never been faster, and combining it with [changes in] the certification process may create more questions than answers.

"We will be discussing this issue along with others and give the audience the opportunity to ask the panel engaging questions," she added.

"Flight Deck Evolution and Connectivity" takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Innovation Zone at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
