Canadian Landing Gear MRO Says NBAA2013 Is “The Right Place to Be”

October 23, 2013

In North America, there are only a handful of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) stations that specialize in landing gear. Aviatechnik is a new company, founded in 2013, running an MRO on Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (CYYZ), with advanced support for landing gear, as well as aircraft hydraulics and pneumatic systems.

“We have customers all over the world, about 25 percent regional or commercial airlines and about 75 percent business aircraft,” said Vadym Nechyporenko, director of maintenance.

The Toronto-based MRO employs about 20 people, mostly aircraft component technicians. In addition to servicing landing gear, they support hydraulic pumps and motors, actuators, pneumatic valves and mechanical gearboxes.

As a new company, this is Aviatechnik’s first time exhibiting at NBAA’s Convention, where they hope to meet both aircraft operators and MROs that do scheduled maintenance on airframes. “Because they don’t do landing gear themselves, they subcontract with us to do that work, said account manager Nataliya Nechyporenko.

Recently, Aviatechnik has done more business with Bombardier and Embraer aircraft, and hopes to expand into servicing new types of business aircraft, “so this is the right place for us to be,” she said.
