Titanium Producer Comes to NBAA Because “Our Customer Base Is Here”
Headquartered in Dallas, TX, Titanium Metals Corporation (TIMET) has been the world‘s leading titanium producer for more than 60 years. TIMET is involved in the full cycle of titanium production, from refining rutile ore and melting slab to recapturing scrap and manufacturing milled titanium products.
“Aerospace is our key market; it‘s 60 to 70 percent of business,” said Account Manager Joel Young. Because titanium is lightweight and also extremely strong, it‘s used in airframe construction. And because it withstands very high temperatures and is resistant to corrosion, it‘s used in many aircraft engine parts, like fan blades and discs, hydraulic tubing and compressors.
TIMET‘s general aviation customers are primarily aircraft OEMs and their supply bases.
“Mostly everyone here uses titanium. We‘re doing business with just about every OEM in here,” Young explained.
Meeting new customers is not the only reason TIMET comes to NBAA‘s Convention. They‘ve exhibited at the show for at least five years, and it‘s just as important to foster relationships with existing customers. “This is an extraordinarily important show for us, in that our customer base is here,” Young said.
