Snapshot - Rapco

Mark GaulkeFounded in 1981, Rapco (short for Replacement Aircraft Parts Company) creates FAA - PMA approved replacement aircraft parts that are manufactured to meet or even exceed OEM design and performance standards, while meeting those rigid standards at the lowest possible cost. About 90% of Rapco’s primary products are pneumatics for instruments, brake parts, and propeller de-icing products, largely for general aviation aircraft like Cessna, Beech or Piper. In the early 90’s, the Hartland, WI-based Rapco launched another company with a similar mission, but one that would focus on brakes for corporate and charter aviation jets, Rapco Fleet Support. Still living under the same Rapco umbrella, both of these companies have been attending NBAA Annual Meeting and Conventions for years, as a great forum for the "word out" about their business. "NBAA2008 is an excellent show for us," says Rapco’s Mark Gaulke. "We’re seeing good results for both sides of the company, but particularly an increase in our general aviation side." Gaulke notes that even in this down economy, Rapco actually does well, because companies who typically go with OEM see a need to reduce costs, are willing to give their products a try. Once the customer realizes they are getting OEM quality or better for a lower cost, Rapco has a new long-term customer.
