Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval proclaimed June 2012 as Aviation Appreciation Month in his state. In his June 1 announcement, the governor pointed to the vital role all aviation, including business aviation, plays for citizens and businesses in the Silver State.
In his proclamation, Sandoval pointed out that the aviation industry in Nevada employs more than 25,000 residents and has an annual economic impact of more than $31 billion.
Nevada is the 40th state to issue an official recognition of the industry’s value since the launch of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign by NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) in 2009.
“We appreciate Gov. Sandoval’s official recognition of the importance of business aviation in Nevada,” said Ed Bolen, NBAA President and CEO. “For the 106 cities and towns in the state not served by a major airline, business aviation can be a vital asset.”

In addition to Nevada, 39 other states have officially recognized the value of business flying for their state, including Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
