Business aviation plays a vital role in linking communities across the country – a fact underscored in a recent inter-city meeting between chambers of commerce in Greenville, SC and Clarksville, TN.
Business and community leaders wanted to hold the meeting to compare notes and share ideas on growth planning. But, the two cities are separated by approximately 400 miles, meaning the trip could have required up to seven hours by car.
The answer to this transportation challenge? Business aviation. Officials from Clarksville flew into Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) on a chartered flight from NBAA Member Company Special Services Corp.
Greenville leaders were able to take the time required to thoroughly review with their Clarksville counterparts the strategic plan that has guided the restoration of Greenville’s downtown area, and helped city officials manage the infrastructure as the local population and economy grew.
“The convenience and scheduling flexibility provided with the charter flight allowed for a longer visit and more learning opportunities than we might have had if we’d used another form of travel for the meeting,” according to Melinda Shepard, Vice President of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce.
