Retiring CBAA CEO Receives NBAA Silk Scarf Award

Nov. 28, 2017

NBAA recently presented its Silk Scarf Award to Rudy Toering, retiring president and CEO of the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA), for his dedicated efforts on behalf of the industry in Canada and internationally.

NBAA’s Chief Operating Officer Steve Brown presented the award to Toering on Nov. 16 at the 66th governing board meeting of the International Business Aviation Council, of which Toering has been an integral participant.

Toering was named president and CEO of CBAA in 2013 after years of working in the private sector, including both general and commercial aviation. He has served as a member or on governing boards of the European Business Aviation Association, International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations, British Business and General Aviation Association and the Flight Safety Foundation’s European Advisory Council.

“Rudy has been a tireless advocate for business aviation, not just during his tenure at CBAA, but also throughout his career,” said Brown. “Rudy has guided the CBAA staff and members through significant regulatory challenges, ranging from crewmember fatigue to taxation.

“From the very beginning of his time at CBAA, Rudy actively reached out to CBAA members across the country to better understand their concerns and needs,” Brown continued, “and business aviation in Canada has greatly benefited from his efforts. It has been a privilege to work with Rudy over the years, and we are honored to present him the Silk Scarf Award for his diligent service.”
