Video: Bolen Highlights Need for Advocacy in Star-Powered Opening General Session

The 2016 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) kicked off today with an Opening General Session featuring keynote speakers NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen; Rep. Sam Graves (R-6-MO); R. Gil Kerlikowske, U.S. Customs and Border Protection; and “Wright Brothers” author David McCullough. NBAA Convention Dedicated to Memory of Two Aviation Legends

NBAA-BACE is being dedicated to the memory of two industry giants – Arnold Palmer and Bob Hoover. Today’s Opening General Session focused on Palmer with a video tribute that included excerpts from Cessna Chairman Emeritus Russ Meyer’s remarks at the late golfer’s memorial service. Hoover will be remembered during the Second-Day Opening Session tomorrow. Read more about the Palmer tribute.

Heads of NBAA and GAMA Talk Problems With Privatized ATC

After two years of debate in Congress, proposals to privatize the ATC system in the U.S. were left out of Congress’s 2016 funding measures for the FAA, but NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen warned the issue will return, in remarks he made at today’s No Plane No Gain Media Kick-Off Breakfast at NBAA-BACE. Bolen was joined by NBAA Chairman Paul Anderson and their General Aviation Manufacturers Association counterparts in a discussion of regulatory challenges, economic trends, emissions policies and more.
