As part of the security surrounding President Obama, a new flight advisory has been issued for the Chicago, IL area during May 27-31, 2010. It is anticipated that a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) NOTAM providing more details will be released in the near future. Members should review this information closely as the TFR is expected to significantly impact Chicago Midway (MDW), Chicago O'Hare (ORD), and Gary, IN (GYY) airports. Learn More

VFR Operations in the Unted States

NOTAM FDC 3/1862 - Sporting Event NOTAM

Issued March 6, 2003
Commencing one hour before the scheduled time of the event until one hour after the end of the event, all aircraft and parachute operations are prohibited at and below 3,000 feet AGL within a 3 NMR of any stadium having a seating capacity of 30,000 or more people in which a Major League Baseball, National Football League, NCAA Division One Football, or major motor speedway event is occuring.

International Operations

U.S. registered aircraft with a maximum certificated takeoff weight of 100,309 pounds or less are authorized to operate to or form or within or transit the territorial airspace of the U.S. so long as all applicable regulations governing the flights are met. It is not necessary for U.S. registered aircraft that are 100,309 pounds or less to obtain an airspace waiver. NOTAM 9/2786 applies to aircraft over 100,309 pounds. These aircraft must obtain a TSA waiver or be authorized under an approved TSA Aviation Security Program when operating to or from or overflying the territorial airspace of the U.S. For more details review the NOTAMs.
