NBAA Statement Regarding Agreement Signed by the Teterboro Airport Working Group

WASHINGTON, DC – National Business Aviation Association President and CEO Ed Bolen today made the following statement about an agreement signed by a working group of airport and industry representatives concerning voluntary measures for some operations at Teterboro Airport.

“Today, NBAA joined multiple partners in promoting voluntary measures that preserve access to Teterboro Airport while addressing concerns about some flights raised by those in the surrounding community.

“NBAA has a long history of leadership in promoting strong relationships between business aviation and airport communities, as reflected in everything from the Association’s quiet flight initiatives to videos and other products focusing on airport use. At the same time, NBAA is recognized as a staunch opponent of discriminatory restrictions on business aviation’s access to airports and airspace.

“NBAA has worked for years with a number of parties to strike an appropriate balance between operational requirements and community concerns at Teterboro Airport, perhaps the nation’s most unique general aviation airport, given its proximity to the financial capital of the world.

“NBAA’s most recent efforts at Teterboro have been in conjunction with an industry/airport working group formed to address proposed mandatory limitations on operations at the airport. As part of its work with the group, NBAA is promoting voluntary operational measures, which are in line with NBAA’s long-standing work to reconcile the needs of local communities with those of our Membership.

“The measures include not only compliance with existing voluntary bans on Stage 2 aircraft related to nighttime operations, but also the practice of restraint at all other times, including the consideration of alternate aircraft for accessing Teterboro Airport.

“NBAA is alerting operators to factor noise concerns at the airport into their decisions about utilizing the facility, so that access to Teterboro can be preserved for the industry into the future.”
