Actor, Pilot Harrison Ford Accepts Humanitarian Honor at NBAA2013
Harrison Ford may be best known for his iconic portrayals of movie heroes such Han Solo and Indiana Jones, but it was work as a general aviation advocate and humanitarian pilot that were in the spotlight this morning at NBAA's Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2013), as he accepted NBAA's 2013 Al Ueltschi Award for Humanitarian Leadership. "I am humbled … by this award and this attention," said Ford. "I have done what I've been able to do, and upon receipt of this high honor I promise to redouble my efforts ... to try to make myself available for more of the good missions that can provide service to people in need." NBAA2013 Speakers Emphasize Industry's Importance Through Evolving Times
NBAA2013 formally opened today with an energetic Opening General Session featuring perspectives from key lawmakers and influential business aviation leaders on the industry's direction, its current challenges and the importance of sharing with lawmakers and the general public information about business aviation's innumerable benefits. Speakers included NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen, Rep. Sam Graves (R-6-MO), Transportation Security Administrator John Pistole and former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury John Snow. CEO Testimonials, Global Operators Study Unveiled at Media Kickoff Breakfast
This morning, leaders from NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association joined in celebrating the organizations' 20th year in hosting the No Plane No Gain Media Kickoff Breakfast. At the event, NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen recapped recent campaign initiatives, including a new advocacy product and new data-driven industry study. Also aired during the breakfast was a video featuring various leaders discussing the benefits of general aviation and the effects of the recent federal government shutdown on the industry. In Newest No Plane No Gain Campaign, 10 CEOs Stand Up for Business Aviation
Ten highly respected CEOs from some of the country's most widely known companies have affirmed how business aviation works for their companies, in a new advocacy program announced today by the sponsors of the No Plane No Gain campaign. The new faces of the campaign, called "Top Ten," were unveiled at the NBAA2013 Media Kickoff Breakfast. The CEOs' testimonials have been published in an easy-to-share booklet, also called Top Ten, and are featured throughout the Las Vegas Convention Center this week on hanging signage and displays across the show floor. New Study: On an International Scale, Business Aviation Creates Value for World's Best-Managed Companies
NBAA today welcomed a new study showing that companies based around the world are increasingly turning to business aviation for the same reasons as American companies, and are reaping the similar productivity and competitive benefits. The study titled "Business Aviation and the World's Top-Performing Companies," is the fifth in the Business Aviation Users study series to be completed by NEXA Advisors, LLC, which earlier focused on business aviation use by large companies, small and mid-size companies, government organizations and companies facing the challenges of the Great Recession. The study concludes that on a global basis, users of business aircraft stand out from their peers as measured independently by leading business authorities, and take top honors in revenue growth, innovation, employee satisfaction and market share. NBAA Presents Doswell and Winant Awards, Recognizes Safe Flying Achievement
NBAA today recognized the lifelong contributions of two industry veterans, as well as the outstanding safe-flying records of more than a dozen Member Companies, at the annual NBAA Awards Luncheon. Two NBAA awards were handed out during the event: the 2013 John P. "Jack" Doswell Award was given to Peter Ingleton, director of liaison to the International Civil Aviation Organization for the International Business Aviation Council, and the 2013 John H. Winant Award was given to James Cooling, a pilot and managing director of the Kansas City law firm of Cooling & Herbers, P.C. Read more about the award winners .

NBAA's 2013 Journalism Award Presented to Molly McMillin
NBAA presented its 2013 Gold Wing Award for Journalism Excellence this morning to Wichita Eagle reporter Molly McMillin for her story titled "Corporate Planes Give Business Owners an Edge," published on Dec. 13, 2012. McMillin's story helped put forward the true face of business aviation. It also described the stress that the recession and Washington rhetoric has put on the companies of all sizes trying to use business aviation to survive and compete in an unforgiving economy and global marketplace. NBAA Committees Keep Strategic Focus on Key Issues at NBAA2013
As the global business aviation community gathers this week in Las Vegas, members of NBAA's standing committees will utilize the opportunity to discuss the latest issues affecting business aviation, including regulatory matters, access, taxation policy, professional development, safety and security. IAWA Reception Set for Oct. 23 
The International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA) is hosting a reception during NBAA2013 at 1 p.m. on Oct. 23 at NBAA headquarters, Booth N904. IAWA represents women who hold executive positions across the aviation and aerospace industry. It provides a networking platform for professional women to promote advancement in leadership and to encourage younger women to develop their careers in aviation. Video: NBAA Leads a 'Parade of Planes'
NBAA released a video featuring its "parade of planes" from McCarran International Airport to the Las Vegas Convention Center in preparation for the Convention's indoor static display. Also in the video, NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen noted that despite economic hardships within the aviation industry, there are signs of improvements, and Rob Wilson, Honeywell's president of business and general aviation, echoed Bolen's statements with predictions of increases in aircraft manufacturing over the next 10 years. Three New Directors Elected to CAM Governing Board
NBAA's Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Governing Board added three new directors, while honoring the service of several founding members, at its annual business meeting today during NBAA2013. The new members include: Craig Fitzsimmons, safety officer for Lookfar Aviation; Rick Mrkacek, senior pilot and maintenance manager at GROWMARK, Inc.; and Denise Wilson, president and founder of Desert Jet.
