NBAA Charity Benefit Raises Over $220,000 to Support Life-Saving CAN Flights

ATLANTA, GA October 22, 2010 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today announced that more than $220,000 was raised at the NBAA/CAN Charity Benefit at the Association's 63rd Annual Meeting & Convention in Atlanta, GA, with the proceeds going to Corporate Angel Network (CAN).

"The business aviation community has a long tradition of supporting worthy causes, and the industry did so again at this year's benefit," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "Our thanks to everyone who attended our benefit, and whose generosity will help CAN continue its life-saving work."

Based in White Plains, NY, CAN is the only charitable organization in the United States whose sole mission is to ease the emotional stress, physical discomfort and financial burden of travel for cancer patients by arranging free flights to treatment centers, using the empty seats on business aircraft. The NBAA/CAN Charity Benefit is an annual event, held during the Association's Convention to raise money for CAN through live and silent auctions.

CAN Executive Director Peter Fleiss applauded the outpouring of support from those in attendance at the benefit. "Our heartfelt thanks to NBAA and their entire team, along with the event's emcee, Miles O'Brien, the Benefit Auction Committee, chaired by CAN board member and Aviation International News Managing Director Wilson Leach, those who donated and bid on so many wonderful items, and all in attendance for honoring CAN at this wonderful event," said Fleiss.

"So many people's lives are touched by cancer," Fleiss continued. "For nearly thirty years, the business aviation community has stepped up to help, and now flies between 250 and 300 cancer patients a month to specialized and critical treatment. On behalf of these patients, we at Corporate Angel Network thank you all."
