WASHINGTON, DC, October 20, 2008 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is pleased to announce that Forbes magazine publisher and business airplane owner and pilot Rich Karlgaard will be a featured speaker at the opening of the inaugural Light Business Airplane Exhibition & Conference (LBA2009).

As publisher of one of the nation's preeminent business magazines, Karlgaard expects to feel right at home among other entrepreneurs using single-pilot airplanes for business.

"I'm delighted to be a part of NBAA's new event," Karlgaard said. "I look forward to being there on opening day, sharing what I've learned about using an airplane for business, and exchanging helpful tips and tools with entrepreneurs like me."

In April 2002, Karlgaard authored a Forbes column entitled, "Boonyack Comeback," in which he referenced the numbers of businesspeople who were moving from large cities to smaller towns to improve the quality of their lives.

The outpouring of personal stories Karlgaard received in response to the column inspired him to fly a Cessna Skyhawk across the country to interview some of the many people who had contacted him. Today, Karlgaard owns and flies a Cirrus SR22, and remains an avid supporter of business aviation.

Karlgaard's blog on forbes.com, "Digital Rules," discusses technology, entrepreneurship, regional economic development, and the future of business and work – and occasionally, small airplanes.

Karlgaard's appearance at LBA2009 will be his second at an NBAA event. He also spoke at the 2005 Opening General Session of NBAA's Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando, and his remarks focused on the advantages of business aviation to entrepreneurs toward developing stronger customer relationships and improving the efficiency of their operations.

NBAA's Light Business Airplane Exhibition & Conference will be held from Thursday, March 12 through Saturday, March 14, 2009 in San Diego, CA. The LBA2009 exhibit hall, which will be located at the San Diego Convention Center, will host exhibitors and attendees involved in nearly every aspect of light business airplane use.

LBA2009 also will include a Static Display of Airplanes just minutes from the convention center, at Landmark Aviation Services on San Diego International Airport.  The Static Display will feature approximately 50 aircraft ranging from pistons to turboprops to light jets.

Those wishing to participate in NBAA's first Light Business Airplane Exhibition & Conference should make plans to attend today. Anyone wishing to attend or exhibit should contact NBAA at 1-800-928-4283 (1-800-9-AVIATE), or by e-mail, [email protected].
