NBAA Announces Staff Promotions; Hires Vice President, Communications

Washington, DC, November 8, 2004 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today announced that two veteran staffers have been promoted, and that a new senior staff person has joined the organization. David W. Almy has been promoted to senior vice president, marketing & communications, and Kathleen M. Blouin has been promoted to senior vice president, conventions & seminars. The Association has hired Dan Hubbard as vice president, communications.

"On behalf of the NBAA Board of Directors, I am happy to acknowledge the significant contributions David and Kathleen have made to NBAA and the business aviation community," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "I am also very pleased to welcome Dan Hubbard to our team. His comprehensive communications experience will be a great asset to NBAA."

With NBAA since 1993, David Almy was most recently vice president, strategic programs. As senior vice president, marketing & communications, Almy will be responsible for the Association's web sites and publications, as well as its communications and membership marketing programs. Almy has been responsible for the creation of numerous NBAA advocacy initiatives, including Travel$ense – NBAA's innovative business travel analysis software – and the "No Plane, No Gain" business aviation advocacy program. Almy also served as author and photographer for Face-to-Face (1994), The Real World of Business Aviation (1997) and Business Aircraft Utilization Strategies (1999). His work was featured in the Business Wings business aviation exhibit at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

Kathleen Blouin oversees NBAA's Conventions, Seminars and Business Aviation Regional Forums. Since Blouin joined the Association in 1992, attendance at the NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention has nearly doubled, from approximately 17,000 Attendees to more than 30,000 at the most recent Convention in Las Vegas. The number of Exhibiting Companies has grown 70 percent from 636 to 1,084, and the overall size of the show has grown four-fold, from 226,000 net square feet to one million net square feet, making the NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention one of the largest trade shows in the United States.

Under Blouin's direction, NBAA also launched international shows, including the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) and Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (LABACE). In 2005, NBAA will launch the Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE).

Dan Hubbard will join the Association on December 1, 2004, as vice president, communications. Hubbard has nearly a decade of experience in public and government relations, most recently as vice president at Fleishman-Hillard, one of the world's leading public relations firms. Prior to his tenure at Fleishman, Hubbard served in communications capacities for Senators Christopher Bond (R-MO) and Senator John Ashcroft (R-MO). In addition, Hubbard served as communications director for the Dole/Kemp campaign in Missouri. Hubbard is a 1995 graduate of the University of Kansas.
