NBAA Officials Emphasize Best Security Practices
Contact: Cassandra Bosco
Washington, DC, August 8, 2002 - Based on continuing interaction with government security officials, NBAA’s Security Committee has produced guidelines and a checklist detailing business aviation’s best security practices.
NBAA President Jack Olcott noted that the industry has an opportunity to demonstrate the excellent security culture that is fundamental to a well-run flight department.
NBAA officials emphasized the fundamental need for all Member Company flight departments to regularly assess their departmental security processes and procedures. Supporting the need for periodic departmental security reviews or audits, NBAA has available a number of resources that include:
- NBAA Best Practices for Business Aviation Security
- Flight Department Security Check List
- NBAA Management Guide, Section 1.21: Security
"Members are urged to review and follow these procedures," added Olcott. "Security, like safety, is a basic responsibility of flightcrews and flight department managers."
