Contact: Cassandra Bosco
Washington, DC, April 25, 2001 - EBACE2001, the First Annual European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition held April 18, 19 and 20, registered 3,620 Attendees and more than 190 Exhibitors, exceeding all pre-show expectations and establishing EBACE as the largest uniquely business aviation event in Europe. This inaugural event was sponsored jointly by the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), based in Brussels, and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), based in Washington, DC. Attendees included business aircraft operators, policymakers, regulators, opinion leaders, members of the media and technology leaders in the business aviation industry.
EBACE2001 took place in Hall 7 at Palexpo Convention Center in Geneva, where Exhibitors displayed their products and services on approximately 16,000 square meters. A permanent bridge constructed for EBACE by Orgexpo and Geneva International Airport provided access between the exhibit hall and the airport, where 30 aircraft were on Static Display.
"There was a good mix of vendors and delegates, with plenty of business-to-business activity," declared NBAA President Jack Olcott. EBAA Chief Executive Fernand Francois also emphasized, "This was the first time that an exhibition of this size, solely devoted to business aviation, has been organized in Europe, and it was also the very first time that two business aviation associations joined forces for the direct benefit of our important sector of aviation."
Both Olcott and Francois were officially received at the Palace of the Geneva Government by the President of State Council, Carlo Lamprecht, who thanked them for the economic revenue that EBACE2001 and business aviation generated for Geneva.
EBACE2002, the 2nd Annual European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition, returns to Geneva on May 28, 29 and 30, 2002.
