Have You Seen the Latest Neil Armstrong Ad

As reported last week, American icon and astronaut Neil Armstrong has joined with golf legend and esteemed businessman Arnold Palmer in supporting the No Plane No Gain through a series of advertisements. This report featured one of the new ads last week, in which Armstrong states: "Business aviation enables you to be where you need to be, when you need to be there, every time."

In the most recent ad, Armstrong makes another point about business aviation value through a reference to his historic lunar landing. Looking skyward toward the distant moon, he states: "You can settle for email and conference calls, but there's nothing like being there... trust me on this." The ad has been featured in the August editions of trade publications including Business Jet Traveler, and it will appear in other venues in the weeks to come. View a full copy of the ad.

"The Wall Street Journal" Hears the No Plane No Gain Message

When The Wall Street Journal recently wanted to take a look at the state of the business aviation industry, NBAA's Ed Bolen looked at the occasion as an opportunity to point out the many reasons why companies of all sizes, all across the U.S., rely on a business airplane to remain productive and competitive, especially in a challenging economy. "I think a CEO or a senior executive, board of directors and shareholders should all have an attitude of when the business airplane makes good sense, when it's the right tool for the mission, then it should be used," he said.

Bolen's interview, which includes a number of statements articulated in the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign, has been published on the Journal's web site. Read the story.

Podcast Highlights August Activities

As reported last week, GAMA and NBAA representatives are attending events across the country this month to highlight the value of business aviation, as Congress breaks for an annual August "recess." In a recent podcast, NBAA's Lisa Piccione outlined the No Plane No Gain themes that she is underscoring in her event presentations, and called upon individuals in the industry to do likewise. "A Congressional work period really provides a unique opportunity for NBAA and our Members to interact with elected officials while they're at home," Piccione reports, adding that: "Our message is simple: No Plane, No Gain."
Listen to the podcast, with Piccione's thoughts about what people in the industry can do help spread the No Plane No Gain message.

Highlighting Business Aviation At Work

Industry Entrepreneur is Finalist for Prestigious Award

The business aviation community is filled with entrepreneurs and visionaries, and when one such individual learned she'd been nominated for an award, she looked at the honor as an opportunity to highlight the industry's value. Desert Jet founder Denise Wilson has been named as one of five finalists for Entrepreneur Magazine's Entrepreneur of 2010 Award. Wilson shed her office job several years ago to found Desert Jet, and today the company continues to grow and add employees. After working with No Plane No Gain on a statement that would echo the campaign's themes in responding to the magazine's recognition, she said: "I'm proud that my company helps businesses of all sizes be more efficient, productive and competitive - especially in this most challenging economy."
