Studies have found that businesses which use business aviation as a solution to some of their transportation challenges return more to shareholders than companies in the same industry that do not utilize business aviation. Business aviation is a productivity tool - when traveling aboard business aircraft, employees can meet, plan and work en route. Business aviation also allows employees to discuss proprietary information in a secure environment and without fear of eavesdropping, industrial espionage or physical threat. To learn more about the many ways business aviation benefits the nation's economy and companies of all sizes, all across the U.S., visit: www.NoPlaneNoGain.org. |

A Continued Media Presence
An event in Ohio last week to highlight the importance of all general aviation, including business aviation manufacture and use in the state, drew participation from Ohio's U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), as well as Reps. Steve Driehaus (D-1-OH) and Jean Schmidt, (R-2-OH). The event also drew extensive coverage from the state's print and broadcast media. The following are a few examples of the resulting television coverage, which cites several messages used in the No Plane No Gain campaign.
- WXIX-FOX TV CH 19 Featured GAMA's Pete Bunce, who cited major Ohio employers involved in business aviation, including Air 10 Jet Center, Executive Jet, General Electric's Aviation Unit, and Hartsell Propeller. Simply put, Bunce told viewers: "General aviation equals jobs." View the news segment in its entirety.
- On WLWT-NBC TV CH 5's July 7 noon newscast, Rep. Driehaus highlighted the role of general aviation manufacturing in Ohio's economy, telling viewers: "Putting together those aircraft and those aircraft engines are important, but all the component parts that allow that to happen are what make Ohio's economy tick." View the news segment in its entirety.
- Later that same evening, on WLWT's 5:30 PM newscast, Rep. Schmidt reminded viewers: "General aviation creates jobs - jobs throughout our district, our state and our country." That station also reported that general aviation is Ohio's biggest employer, supporting 8,000 jobs, and $5.5 billion for the state's economy each year, and that every two seconds, an Ohio-made engine lifts a plane in the air." View the news segment in its entirety.
- WCPO-AVC TV CH7 Noted that on a national level, the industry contributes more than $150 billion to the economy each year, and supports more than one million jobs. View the news segment in its entirety.

Highlighting Business Aviation At Work
Business aircraft have long provided flights in support of worthwhile initiatives, and that tradition will again be in evidence over the next two Saturdays. On July 17th and 24th, hundreds of athletes will be transported by business airplanes to this year's Special Olympics USA National Games in Lincoln, NE, courtesy of Cessna Citation owners who are donating their company's airplanes, pilots and fuel to fly the athletes to and from the games at no charge. "The airlift has allowed more young athletes to compete, because travel expense is the biggest part of their budget," says Rhonda Fullerton, Cessna's Citation Special Olympics Airlift Director. "For some 800 competitors and their coaches, we've been able to eliminate that expense." To read a web article about the airlift, and listen to a podcast interview with Cessna Chairman, President and CEO Jack Pelton about the event, visit NBAA's web site. |

Business aviation plays a vital role in linking communities across the country - a fact underscored in a recent inter-city meeting between chambers of commerce in Greenville, SC and Clarksville, TN. Business and community leaders wanted to hold the meeting to compare notes and share ideas on growth planning. But, the two cities are separated by approximately 400 miles, meaning the trip could have required up to seven hours by car. The answer to this transportation challenge? Business aviation. Learn more about how a business airplane helped two cities explore opportunities for economic growth by reading a web article on NBAA's web site.

Capitol Hill Advocacy News
As No Plane No Gain supporters know, GAMA and NBAA continually spend time on Capitol Hill advocating for policies that promote a positive environment for business aviation. In recent weeks, the two associations have repeatedly weighed in with support for extending "accelerated," or "bonus" depreciation for the purchase of business aircraft or other key assets in 2010. Economists recognize that tax incentives promote aircraft purchase, which in turn helps preserve manufacturing jobs. NBAA's Ed Bolen told House lawmakers in written testimony that extending the policy would not only support business aviation manufacturing jobs, "It will also strengthen the economic viability of all the jobs that are created by the use of those aircraft - the associated businesses and industries in communities surrounding general aviation airports and facilities." Read a press release and NBAA's complete written testimony.
