As part of the general aviation community, business aviation is responsible for jobs in states across the country. As an event at Cincinnati's Lunken Airport this week pointed out, general aviation in the Buckeye State is a $5.5 billion industry, employing 142,000 directly and indirectly. Ohio companies involved in the industry include GE Aviation, Honeywell, Parker Aerospace and Piqua-based Hartzell Propeller Inc. No Plane No Gain Report
Business aviation is vital to the national economic interest, generating over a million jobs, providing a lifeline to communities with little or no airline service, helping thousands of businesses of all sizes to be more productive and efficient, and providing emergency and humanitarian services to people in need.
This newsletter provides regular updates on the activities undertaken through No Plane No Gain, a comprehensive joint advocacy campaign by the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) to highlight the value of business aviation to citizens, companies and communities across the country.
The following are among the campaign's recent initiatives.

Grassroots Initiatives Continue
Since the launch of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign, NBAA and GAMA have been involved in a host of local events in states and communities across the country to underscore the value of business aviation at the grassroots level. Such was the case at Cincinnati's Lunken Airport this week, where GAMA spearheaded an event - attended by over 500 general aviation employees, 50 state and local officials and many industry leaders - to recognize the value of all general aviation, including business aviation to Ohio. At the event, GAMA's Pete Bunce highlighted the work of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign, and pointed out that the industry contributes more than $5.5 billion to Ohio's economy, and supports thousands of manufacturing jobs.
- The Cincinnati Enquirer covered the advocacy event, noting that the forum included "Speeches in support of aviation from Ohio's Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, and Reps. Steve Driehaus (D- West Price Hill) and Jean Schmidt, (R-Miami Township)..."We're counting on you to help us double our exports," [Sen. Brown] told the aviation workers." Highlighting Business Aviation At Work
NBAA's Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2010) has long brought together leaders from business and government to articulate the value of business aviation to citizens, companies and communities across the U.S. This week, NBAA's Ed Bolen announced that the tradition will continue this year, as the Association welcomes Thomas J. Donohue, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as a keynote speaker during the Opening General Session of NBAA's 63rd Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2010). In remarks before an Annual Aviation Summit hosted by the Chamber and held in Washington, DC earlier this year, Donohue spoke about the value of all general aviation, including business aviation, as part of the fabric of the nation's economy and a critical transportation link to communities with little or no airline service. Capitol Hill Advocacy News
As No Plane No Gain supporters know, GAMA and NBAA representatives are on Capitol Hill every week Congress is in session, educating policymakers about the value of business aviation. A central part of their message focuses on the jobs created and supported by the industry, which is why the Associations have welcomed recent support for extending "accelerated," or "bonus" depreciation policies encouraging the purchase of business aircraft or other key assets in 2010. Economists have recognized that tax incentives promote aircraft purchase, which in turn helps preserve manufacturing jobs, and this week, a number of lawmakers on the House Ways and Means Committee called for incorporation of bonus depreciation in the Small Business Jobs (tax) bill that the Senate is expected to discuss in mid-July.
