The 37th annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey (GA Survey) for reporting on calendar year 2014 is underway, and NBAA Members are once again being encouraged to participate.

The FAA’s annual GA Survey is the only source of information on the general aviation fleet, the number of hours flown and the ways people use general aviation aircraft. Information received from the survey results helps determine funding for infrastructure and service needs, assess the impact of regulatory changes and measure aviation safety.

The GA Survey is also used to prepare safety statistics and calculate the rate of accidents among general aviation aircraft.

All responses are confidential.

“Participation in the FAA’s annual GA Survey helps ensure that agency officials have as much information from the business aviation community as possible, so that the FAA’s priorities and decisions reflect our needs and concerns,” said NBAA Chief Operating Officer Steve Brown, himself a pilot and former deputy FAA Administrator. “We strongly encourage anyone using an airplane for business, who was invited to participate in the survey, to help us ensure that the voice of NBAA Members, and business aviation as a whole, is heard.”

Operators may complete the survey online, and the link for doing so is on a postcard sent to invited owners/operators. The FAA asks everyone to please respond, even if they did not fly their aircraft during 2014, they sold it or the aircraft was damaged.

Independent research firm Tetra Tech is conducting the survey, and information collected will be used only for statistical purposes and will not be published or released in any form that would reveal an individual participant.
