Maximizing Subpart F (91.501) Options Available to Flight Departments

Explore how operations and complex ownership structures inadvertently run afoul of various regulatory requirements and how to avoid problems. Discussion will include operational control issues for Part 91 operators, traps that create inadvertent commercial operations (the “flight department company”), maximizing opportunities provided by the FARs, including affiliated group exemption, time sharing, dry leasing, and more.

Personal Use: A Guide for Flight Departments

Attendees will learn to identify and better understand the key issues and considerations in classifying flights as business, personal entertainment or personal non-entertainment for tax purposes, and how to help minimize the impact of personal use regulations on employees and company tax deductions.  Attendees will explore reimbursement alternatives for personal flights under the FARs, including time share arrangements and FAA’s recent “Nichols Interpretation.”
