Schedulers and Dispatchers Mark 20th Anniversary of Conference

LONG BEACH, CA, January 16, 2009 – Business aviation professionals gathered this week for the NBAA 20th Annual Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D) Conference, which provided instruction, training and exhibits designed to benefit schedulers and dispatchers of every experience level. Themed “Honoring our Heritage, Reaching for New Heights,” NBAA also commemorated the event’s 20th anniversary with several activities and observations.
 
The S&D Conference traditionally provides a venue for schedulers, dispatchers and other business aviation professionals to share their enthusiasm for the profession and for the industry as a whole, and despite the downturn in the economy, this year was no different. Attendees and Exhibitors displayed an upbeat attitude in sessions and on the exhibit floor, with many Exhibitors characterizing this event as the most productive one they’ve experienced in years.
 
NBAA marked the Conference’s anniversary throughout the week in several ways, including a video featuring the pioneers of the profession, shown during the Opening General Session; a display of scheduling and dispatching memorabilia; the inaugural presentation of the Schedulers & Dispatchers Outstanding Achievement & Leadership Award to Sharon Forbes of DuPont Aviation; and a book documenting the history of the Conference and the profession, titled The Heritage.
 
This year was the first that the Conference has a charitable element. NBAA will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from The Heritage book sales to NBAA Charities, which helps support a number of philanthropic organizations and initiatives that use general aviation airplanes for humanitarian purposes. Publication of The Heritage was made possible by sponsor Air Routing International. Book quantities are limited, but copies are still available. Business aviation professionals who wish to further their Conference experience, or who were not able to attend, can continue their education all year long by purchasing session recordings via NBAA’s On-Demand Education Program. The NBAA S&D Conference is hosted annually by the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee. In addition to supporting the S&D Conference, the Committee provides input to NBAA on issues associated with scheduling and dispatching business aircraft, as well as other issues associated with business aviation service personnel.
