Regional Business Aviation Leaders to Meet Next Month in San Antonio
May 5, 2014
Leaders of local and regional aviation groups around the country, as well as those who would like to start such groups, are scheduled to gather in San Antonio on June 5 for a unique chance to network with each other and with NBAA leaders.
The second annual NBAA Regional Leadership Roundtable is being held in conjunction with the Partnership for Corporate Aviation Training (PCAT) Safety Smackdown, which takes place from June 2 to 4. Roundtable attendees receive complimentary admission to the PCAT event and its associated evening networking event on June 4.
“The objective of the roundtable is to connect the dots between aviation groups all over the country,” said NBAA Access Committee Vice Chairman Don Hitch, whose group sponsors the Regional Leadership Roundtable. “They can share information on how to deal with their own challenges and, we think, learn very important lessons from each other.”
Topics to be covered at the one-day event include workshops on how to create and sustain local and regional aviation groups, techniques to establish and maintain membership and how to stage special events, such as safety days and fundraisers.
The value of connecting local and regional aviation group leaders at events like the Regional Leadership Roundtable is undeniable, Hitch said.
“The highlight for me is looking at the regional groups and how they interact with one another. There’s an amazing synergy – how they come together and communicate in the room,” Hitch said.
But perhaps most important, he continued, is the ability to share experiences and knowledge pertinent to all phases of organizing and growing a regional business aviation group.
“If this event is going to help me understand how another group overcame the challenge I’m facing now, I’d definitely want to go,” Hitch said. “There are a number of experienced, stable organizations that will be in attendance. They’ll share their thoughts with the rest.”
