Business Aviation Update from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)

Florida Sales and Use Tax Update

Over the past few years, the Florida legislature has been very active in the area of state aviation taxes. Recent changes to the state tax code will have an impact on aircraft purchased, based or visiting Florida. During this Session, participants will learn how to:

  • Understand the 21-day exemption for non-resident aircraft visiting Florida during the first six months of ownership;
  • Apply new definitions to the terms “resident” and “non-resident” for use tax purposes; and
  • Review pending legislation that could impact business aircraft owners and operators

European Union ETS Update

Many operators have already begun the process of complying with the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). Beginning on March 31, 2011, operators will have to submit a verified emissions report to their assigned EU Member state. During this Session, participants will learn how to:

  • Understand which operators are subject to the EU ETS requirements;
  • Complete the mandatory emissions reporting process; and
  • Utilize the monitoring and reporting tools available to business aircraft operators

Any person who attends an NBAA convention, conference, seminar or other program grants permission to NBAA, its employees and agents (collectively "NBAA") to record his or her visual/audio images, including, but not limited to, photographs, digital images, voices, sound or video recordings, audio clips, or accompanying written descriptions, and, without notifying such person, to use his or her name and such images for any purpose of NBAA, including advertisements for NBAA and its programs.
