Robust Slate of Professional Development Courses Available to NBAA2013 Attendees

Attendees of the 2013 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2013), Oct. 22 to 24 in Las Vegas, NV, will again have the opportunity to participate in one or more of six Professional Development Program (PDP) courses held in conjunction with the event.

Aimed at business aviation professionals seeking to advance in their careers, PDP courses provide the education and information necessary to prepare them for management roles within their respective companies.

"This year's schedule ensures that Convention attendees have a diverse selection of PDP courses available to them, addressing multiple facets to managing a flight department," noted Sarah Wolf, NBAA project manager, professional development. "Some of these courses are new additions for the Convention, while others feature new providers addressing core subjects, to offer a fresh perspective."

Courses scheduled around NBAA2013 include:

  • Oct. 20: Capitalize on Human Resources
    • Presented by ServiceElements
    • This interactive course introduces new concepts to enhance staffing requirements, improve attendees' skills for resolving employee issues and increasing employee satisfaction. The course also includes breakout sessions for discussion and analysis.
    • Meets PDP Objective: HR4
  • Oct. 20 and 21: Emergency Response and Family Assistance Planning for Business Aviation
    • Presented by Aviem International and the Family Assistance Foundation
    • This two-day workshop, designed specifically for business aviation, will review the challenges faced by any organization experiencing a serious aviation-related accident.
    • Meets PDP Objective: Ops5
  • Oct. 20 and 21: Human Factors in Corporate Aviation
    • Presented by Grey Owl Aviation Consultants
    • This course, which also qualifies as an eight-hour FAA Inspection authorization (IA) renewal, aims to help aviation flight crews, technicians and managers reduce errors and their associated costs, and create a corporate culture conducive to human error prevention.
    • Meets PDP Objective: HR9
  • Oct. 20 and 21: Management Fundamentals for Flight Departments Workshop
    • Presented by NBAA and Walter Kraujalis, AeronomX
    • This two-day workshop gives flight department managers key information about safe operations, regulatory compliance, basic management practices, budgeting and accounting, cost controls, vendor selection and tracking, and other useful criteria to daily flight management.
    • Meets PDP Objective: L2 and L3
  • Oct. 21: Enhancing Productivity through Business Aviation
    • Presented by Aviation Training Solutions
    • This course focuses on the value-added solution that is business aviation. Attendees learn the value of business aviation and methods to present this value to company personnel via marketing, proposals, presentations and more.
    • Meets PDP Objective: BM1
  • Oct. 25 and 26: Flight Operations Manual Workshop – Employing the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO)
    • Presented by NBAA and Walter Kraujalis, AeronomX
    • This workshop incorporates IS-BAO, a code of good operating practices – devised by NBAA in conjunction with the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) and recognized by most global aviation authorities – that promotes professional operational practices in flight departments.
    • Meets PDP Objective: Ops1 and Ops4

Registration for a PDP course also includes complimentary registration for NBAA2013, with access to exhibits and education sessions at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the static display of aircraft at Henderson Executive Airport.
