Tuskegee Airmen to Be Honored; Filmmaker George Lucas to Participate in Ceremony
Convention Attendees won’t want to miss an opportunity to see representatives of the Tuskegee Airmen squadron and legendary filmmaker George Lucas, who produced the movie Red Tails about the squadron’s triumph over discrimination during World War II. Lucas and two of the airmen will be on hand when NBAA recognizes the squadron’s achievements with the 2012 NBAA Meritorious Service to Aviation Award on Wednesday, Oct. 31. “We are honored to present this award to these storied aviators, who in a time of great peril defended the United States and its principles, even as they faced intolerance at home," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. Students, Local Aviation Community Admitted Free on Nov. 1
The Association will open the final day of NBAA2012 to students and members of Florida’s aviation community to mark “Florida Aviation Day” at the Convention on Nov. 1. Anyone employed with a company in the aviation industry and any students enrolled in collegiate aviation curricula in Florida are invited to visit the exhibits and static displays at the Orange County Convention Center and Orlando Executive Airport free of charge.
