Official NBAA2012 App Receives Thumbs Up From Users

October 28, 2012

The official NBAA2012 mobile app has garnered rave reviews from users – even before the Association’s 65th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2012) gets underway in Orlando, FL.

Jay Orwin, chief pilot for a Fortune 250 company, downloaded the app weeks ahead of the event for planning purposes. “I'm using the app to identify exhibitors I'd like to visit, and to select and organize events that I'd like to attend during the week,” he said.

Powered by FollowMe and created by Core-Apps LLC, the NBAA2012 app is available for iPhone and Android smartphones, with a version optimized for use on the iPad introduced this year. The free application includes an Exhibitor Directory with booth locations and company descriptions, as well as an interactive exhibit floor plan for the Orange County Convention Center and the complete schedule of education sessions. "I have copied the schedule of everyone within [the company] into the schedule portion of the app," said Christine Preston, marketing coordinator for Conklin & de Decker. "In the past, they have always used a paper copy to know what their schedules are and who is scheduled to be in the booth at any given time. My immediate boss will also be using the app to schedule meetings with others in their booths."

One of the app's most noteworthy features is the “My Schedule” function, which enables users to manage their show experience in real time. In conjunction with the “Bookmarks” function, Attendees may flag specific events, news conferences and education sessions to attend, with those events automatically populated on the My Schedule calendar and the Exhibitor location highlighted on the Convention map.

"We are running the app on both iPhones and iPads and one Android," noted Lucille Fisher, president of Quality Resources LLC. "It makes it easy to find where vendors are located, and where informational sessions are being held.”

Stratosphere Fuel Consortium President Melodi Gerber noted, “Having the layout of the [convention] center at your fingertips, and having all my meetings scheduled in my phone and iPad" are the most compelling reasons to use the NBAA2012 app. "This tool is exceptional for making the most out of the Convention. It allows you to be far more organized and able to meet with more customers,” she added.

The app also includes RSS news and Twitter feeds to keep users informed of the most up-to-date developments throughout NBAA2012, and a “Friend” feature they can use to connect with colleagues at the event.

Perhaps most importantly, however, is that all of these features have been designed to be simple and intuitive to use. "Thank you for remembering not all of us are tech gurus!" Gerber quipped.

The NBAA2012 app may be downloaded to iPhones and iPads from the Apple Store, and from Google Play for Android smartphones. A BlackBerry version is also available.
