Successful teams have forever changed the landscape of
future aviation flight department performance. Persistent
and committed collaboration with immediate, precision
feedback further adds to the value of the flight department
director as an integral asset to the corporation. "When
Teams Work Well" locates sources of expertise from within
and outside of the department, integrates technology, and
defines strategies to capture information and communicate
change as more sophisticated systems are continually being
developed. Studies prove a leader-dominant climate produces a greater disparity in performance than a teamwork
climate. A safety culture dependent on continuous
improvement without shared responsibility is an accident
waiting to happen. What are the critical capability gaps and
mission challenges facing flight department managers
today? What are the personnel development plans? How
do you improve collaboration? These and other questions
will be addressed during this outstanding performance based
workshop.

NBAA Getting, Keeping and Recovering Your FAA Medical Certificate
Venue: Orange County Convention Center
Room/Location: S310E
Pilots require two certificates from the FAA to fly: a pilot certificate and a medical certificate. The criteria for maintaining the pilot certificate are well defined. In contrast, the FAA does not publish specific criteria for maintaining one's medical certificate. Significant FAA medical policy decisions are made frequently and enforced strictly, but are usually unknown to pilots and even to aviation medical examiners. Ignorance of these unannounced changes may cause pilots to lose medical certificates for months or may even unnecessarily jeopardize a career. This presentation will address recent FAA medical policy and standards changes (both favorable and unfavorable), look at pending changes and discuss strategies to avoid FAA enforcement actions for medical reporting infractions. Subject areas will include cardiac health, vision, hearing, cancer, depression, alcohol related incidents, medications and more. The ultimate goal of this presentation is to keep pilots healthy, safe and flying.

NBAA's Small Aircraft Exemption Explained: What Is It? How Can It Help You? Do You Need It?
Venue: Orange County Convention Center

FAR 91.501 gives large jet operators the flexibility to use timesharing, interchange, joint ownership and other methods, such as monetary charge-backs, to meet business demands with their aircraft without operating the aircraft under FAR Part 135. FAR 91.501 does not give these regulatory advantages to small airplane or helicopter operators. NBAA addressed this problem decades ago by obtaining an exemption for NBAA Members who operate small airplanes and/or helicopters. This Session will explain the advantages of timesharing, interchange, joint ownership and other options for NBAA Members who wish to use the NBAA Small Aircraft Exemption and how to comply with the specific requirements of the Exemption.
