As part of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign, NBAA provides a host of educational and promotional materials reflecting the vital contributions of general aviation (GA), including business aviation, to citizens, companies and communities across the country.

NBAA Members and other aviation stakeholders have recognized how these tools help them spread the positive message of business aviation and encourage discussions with local leaders, elected officials and others in their communities about the industry.

For example, Runar Gardarsson, aviation director for Seattle, WA-based Weyerhaeuser Co., ordered a copy of NBAA’s Business Aviation Fact Book in order to “increase my arsenal when speaking for and supporting business aviation.” William Moore II, airport manager for Frac Tech Horizons LLC in Abilene, TX, noted that he was “new to airport management and running an aviation department. I need all the help I can get.”

Daryl Thompson, owner of Aquarius Consulting in New Braunfels, TX, recently ordered a variety of advocacy resources from NBAA, including the DVDs titled Business Aviation: The Story of NBAA and the Industry and Business Aviation Works, in order to “support the program and show pride in business aviation.”

Thompson also ordered several of the popular No Plane No Gain lapel pins, which demonstrate support for business aviation and encourage discussions about the value of the industry. John Van Geffen, of San Francisco, CA-based aviation law firm Michael L. Dworkin and Associates, also ordered pins for attorneys at the firm, who will “wear them and hand them out at an emergency response plan presentation coming up soon.”

Clayton Stambaugh, manager of Pekin Municipal Airport (C15) in Pekin, IL, ordered multiple copies of NBAA’s Airport Advocate Guide, Airports Handbook and Business Aviation Fact Book to distribute in the airport’s pilot lounge, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the value of business aviation and GA airports.

“It’s vitally important to keep aviation users and stakeholders informed on industry-wide issues, current talking points and advocacy tactics,” Stambaugh noted. “Pilots should share some burden in ensuring the preservation and growth of our air transportation system, and these resources are a straightforward tool that can be placed in their pockets.

“In addition, these publications are also useful to the airport manager looking to inform their surrounding community and/or region about the significant benefits aviation provides,” he said.

The No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign was launched in 2009 by NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association. In the coming weeks, NBAA will be sharing more specific examples of how people throughout the business aviation community are using the NPNG advocacy tools.
