NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) looked upon a recent federal aviation conference near Washington, DC as an important opportunity to remind leading aviation policymakers about the importance of general aviation (GA), including business aviation, and the primary themes of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign.

The two associations jointly sponsor the advocacy program, which focuses on educating policymakers and opinion leaders about the industry’s importance to citizens, companies and communities across the U.S.

The annual policy forum, hosted by the American Association of Airport Executives, from March 13 to 14, was attended by leading aviation figures from industry and government, and focused on the FAA’s forecast for 2014 to 2034, and related policy challenges facing the aviation and aerospace segment.

Each of the hundreds of conference attendees received a complimentary conference tote containing important No Plane No Gain resources, including the well-received Top Ten booklet, featuring commentary from 10 highly respected CEOs, from some of the country’s most dynamic and widely known companies, each unambiguously affirming how business aviation works for their companies.

Introduced last fall at the 2013 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition, the CEOs included in the Top Ten product have also been featured in print and online advertisements, signage at NBAA events, and other placements.

GAMA also provided conference attendees with the association’s 2013 General Aviation Statistical Databook & 2014 Industry Outlook – which, in addition to detailing GA industry shipment, billings and forecast data, echoes themes from the No Plane No Gain program – including a prominent reminder, on the booklet’s inside cover, that the industry employs more than 1.2 million people, and provides a $150 billion annual contribution to the U.S. economy.

Both associations were major sponsors of the forecast conference, ensuring that the No Plane No Gain message was also visible in other ways at the event. For example, attendees were able to pick up their own No Plane No Gain lapel pins from the NBAA display booth located in the event’s central break area.

Additionally, NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen represented the business aviation community in a panel discussion of top aviation policy officials and industry representatives emphasizing the importance and preservation of the United States’ leadership role in aviation.
