Just as a business airplane is vital to a well-managed company, U.S. airports are essential to the aviation infrastructure needed to maintain America’s economic leadership, NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen told an audience of airport leaders in Washington, DC to meet with lawmakers this week.
“Airports, airlines, general aviation – we’re all part of the same ecosystem,” Bolen told attendees at the joint spring legislative conference sponsored by the American Association of Airport Executives and Airports Council International-North America. “We’re all in aviation and we’re in this together. Now it’s up to us to collectively help educate people about the importance of our industry to citizens, companies, communities and our country. It is a great message, and we need to make sure it gets out.”
Bolen was invited by the airports’ association to discuss NBAA’s advocacy efforts, and he shared with them key aspects of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign, which NBAA launched with the General Aviation Manufacturers Association to educate policymakers and opinion leaders about the importance of business aviation.
“We say no plane, no gain in our nation’s job base; no plane, no gain in economic development; no plane no gain in our humanitarian efforts” he said, adding that “of course, that all assumes there is a strong system of airports.”
