Each year, Fortune magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” is, as the publication explains, “the definitive report card on corporate reputations.” Selected from a pool of approximately 1,400 companies in 55 different industries, the 50 most admired companies is a diverse group that, by large measure, shares a common denominator: business aviation.

Representing 31 different industries – from computers, electronics and software to medical products and a host of merchandisers – companies with their headquarters in the United States dominate the list, occupying 42 of 50 spots, starting with the top 14 positions. Of that number, 31 are members of NBAA, while two more are known to use business aviation through fractional/charter programs.

To make the list of the World’s Most Admired Companies, 4,104 executives, directors and security analysts scored the selected candidates on surveys that measured nine key attributes of reputation. View Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies.

Evidence of business aviation’s contribution to people management, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment value, use of corporate assets, global competiveness and quality of products/services can be found in two studies conducted for NBAA by NEXA Advisors: “Business Aviation: An Enterprise Value Perspective,” and “Business Aviation: An Enterprise Value Perspective,” and “Business Aviation: An Enterprise Value Perspective – Small and Medium Size Enterprises.”

The final two key attributes on Fortune’s Most Admired Company survey are innovation and social responsibility, both of which are embraced by many NBAA Members.
