Utah Business Aviation Leader Receives Silk Scarf Award

May 17, 2013

NBAA presented its Silk Scarf Award to Jeff Hansen in recognition of his contributions to business aviation in the state of Utah.

The award was announced on May 15 by NBAA Northwest Regional Representative Kristi Ivey at the first Utah Business Aviation Association (UBAA) scholarship event.

“Jeff Hansen is one of these incredibly dedicated regional group leaders who deserves true recognition for all the work he does to promote business aviation in his community,” noted Ivey. “As many regional group leaders know, this volunteer role can be a time-consuming job, and it is these individuals who are truly paying it forward for our industry at a grassroots level.”

Hansen is the chief pilot and operations manager for Aircraft Services, LLC, a company that manages aircraft for companies and individuals based at Salt Lake International Airport. In 2007, he was instrumental in creating a regional group for the area, and in 2008 he organized the first Greater Salt Lake Business Aviation Association Safety Day, which drew more than 150 people. Since then, the group has hosted four additional safety events. Following that successful event, the group changed its name to UBAA, with Hansen remaining at its helm. In the ensuing years, UBAA continued to branch out and this month hosted its first scholarship event, which raised money to award three scholarships to students enrolled in aviation programs at Utah colleges.

Hansen continues to lead the UBAA Steering Committee, and work on UBAA initiatives.
